11th December 2016
An unusual run today, the Moel Famau Santa Dash 5k. There were lots of people running and dogs dressed in Santa Suits (and humans in Santa Suits) , all very seasonal. I was the first dog to finish and 6th overall so I was quite happy with that.
6th November 2016
Back to the Sandstone Trail today for run in the Frodsham and Alvanley area, a slow pace today but some personal best times on the climbs, I just need to get my human to run faster all the time.
28th October 2016
Another one of my favourite runs, Wenallt a Is-Afon, a fairly tough climb but my 2nd best time (overall) for the run which is trending faster. Here's a view of the route on a lovely sunny morning.
10th September 2016
Back on Moel Emoel again for a cracking run in lovely weather. The run down is the fastest and best ever scamper for a terrier.
24th July 2016
Back to familiar territory today with a great scamper up to Wennallt & Is Afon near Llyn Tegid. I'd not been allowed to do any running for a while because the weather was much to hot for doggy exercise (although I had a few short evening runs) so it was super to be out on the hills in Wales again.
10th July 2016
A cracking run today! The training over the last two weeks has paid off with my longest run yet: 15km over a mix of road, track and moorland. The climb of 434 metres was easy and my time of 1:40 is a good effort for the first of my long runs.
My run route through the forest and to the ridge just left of centre. |
25th June - 13th July
Lots of running and walking described in my Scottish adventures blog!
24.Jun.16
A brief road run today, 5.2km in 30:19 minutes so I'm happy with that.
20.Jun.16
I haven't many photos to show you but I have been increasing the training over the last few weeks in preparation for my next trip to Scotland. I've spent some time on the beach and in the water (memo to self; jumping off the boat = swimming). On Saturday 18th June I enjoyed another beach run followed by a 7km hill run on Moel y Garnedd to finish off the day.
22nd May 2016
A great weekend as I got out for two hills, a short 6.6 km on Saturday and then a longer one along the Aran Ridge to Aran Benllyn on Sunday. The route up to Aran Benllyn is one I've done before as part of a long walk, this was my attempt at a run although it wasn't much faster than the walk I did last year! The weather was exactly as forecast, cloud base around 450m and quite cold at the summit (a few flakes of snow!). The cloud cleared briefly as you can see from the photo, but only very briefly so it wasn't worth lingering at the summit.
The run down was great almost all downhill for 6km, dropping 683 metres. The added bonus was seeing my human fall face first into a really gloopy bit.
I'm using my ear to indicate Aran Benllyn, seen here on a clear day in April. |
Well it's fairly easy (for me) so far. |
Brief break in the clouds on Aran Benllyn. |
23.Apr.16 I've been getting to know a new area to the north of Llyn Tegid, mainly around the area of Moel y Garnedd. Its a very boggy area and although only abour 350 metres at the most there are great views of the Aran ridge, Arenigs and Llyn Tegid. Most of my runs have been aaround 6 km with 180 - 200 metres height gain. Here are couple of photos to give you some idea of terrain.
8.Mar.16 The go-faster haircut. Just a few flat runs over the last few days, nothing too energetic. But I had a reasonable 5k today in 26:26 minutes and due to my new sleek and mean look I got my best ever time on the 500 metre sprint about half-way into the run - 2:29 minutes.

28.Feb.16 I had a slow run today along the Sandstone Trail from Duckington to Bulkeley and back. The distance was 14 km, 391 m climbing and 1:38 mins to complete at an average pace of 7:03 mins/km. Quite slow but my human was really struggling today.
It was a nice dry day but quite cold.
This is Bickerton Hill at the start of the run, on a clear day the views extend as far as Liverpool. |
Me on the trig point at Raw Head, the highest point of the Sandstone Trail. |
On a clear day there is a great view to the east from Bulkeley Hill, it was a bit hazy today. |
Woofs and wags,
Dexter.

02.Jan.16 5.2km - 29:52 min - pace 5:40/km, this was a flat run to start the New Year.
05 and 06 Jan.16 Two more flat runs 5.2 & 7 km with some muddy stuff. Hoping to get a decent hill run in at the weekend.
I'm not even a little bit tired. |
16. Jan.16 A tough run today due to the snow, above 300 metres a good covering but fresh and not icy. I did the same route as I did on 10.Jan, about 5 minutes slower. I've posted some pictures of the snow.
Normally you can see the first summit from here, but not today. |
Just love rolling in the snow. |
Not much of a view today. |
Get a move on ! |
Moel Fenlli, final hill 500 metres climbed, and now for a downhill dash! |
Woofs and wags, Dexter.
08.Feb.16 Not much to tell you about over the last couple of weeks, I've done some flat runs that were all around 5k so I'm getting the distance done but I need hills. My times are getting faster over the flat 5k, today was my best time ever - 27:21 (5.13K). I hope to get some hill running done at the weekend.
Woofs and wags, Dexter.
